Video Gentleman Video Pitch

Overall Theme: Urban Foraging

Means of doing this: "showing and not telling," as little dialogue as possible

Aesthetic: Long roving camera shots coupled with more fractured, well framed shots

Content Ideas:

  • Third person shots of us UE folks harvesting various plants, cooking them, decocting them, tincturing, serving them to guests, etc. An attempt to capture the process of foraging from start to finish.
  • Bizarre close ups on various weeds
  • Jeremy's pre-schoolers identifying certain plants and weeds
  • Inverted footage of the KGW media coverage
  • Usage of maps to geographically locate some of the areas where the shots are being staged

Conceptual Ideas:

  • Mr. Rodgers crayon factory montage
  • Upside down grazers (shots of heads eating weeds while people held by their feet)
  • Few shots of full bodies (rather eating mouths, dirty hands, etc)
  • Mock of leftist news scare videos

Summary of November 18th Meeting

At Sunday's meeting we established a template for wiki entries, which now consists of Identification (ideally including a photo) , Habitat, Harvesting, Medicinal Uses, Culinary Uses and Other. Brief citation info for sources should be included at the bottom too (title and author seems to be sufficient for now). We discussed some goals for developing the site, including printable identification keys, a glossary with all the relevant botanical identification jargon and medicinal preparation definitions. We'd like to incorporate more commonly found weeds into the wiki, both edible and medicinal, like mullein, plantain, dandelion, chickweed and dock to name a few. Another goal is to create a resource of information regarding preserving foods (like canning, drying, making jams, pickling etc) to make the harvest last! There should be flyers available to print, copy and distribute soon.

Thanks Jeremy!
